Steve Valiquette pitching shutouts in Russia

Heavy Metal Country An annoying electrician: Dick Wattage

Former Wolf Pack goalie Steve Valiquette is playing in the Russian Super League this season, for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Although not against the best competition yet from what I can figure, Valiquette has three shutouts in his last four pre-season games (the Russian regular season starts Sept. 7th). Yesterday, he shutout Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, 2-0, though in the game re-cap it says that Neftekhimik ("Petrochemist") was resting some key players for a pre-season tournament. Valiquette also posted shutouts in two games that Lokomotiv played in Switzerland, against two teams that I'm not familiar with: 4-0 against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers, who're probably German, and 8-0 against HC Turgay (not quite sure about the name-- they're probably Swiss). While in Switzerland, Valiquette was also the goalie in a 3-2 win over HC Davos; about a week later (Aug 23rd) Davos signed Shane Willis, who played in the AHL and the NHL with the New Haven Beast and the Carolina Hurricane, and was with the Springfield Falcons last year.
