#1 Ak Bars Kazan and #4 Metallurg Magnitogorsk advanced to the Russian Super League finals earlier today, with both teams closing out their best-of-five semi-final series by 3 games to 1.

The two teams will now have the rest of the week off, with game one of the best-of-five final scheduled for this Saturday (4/7).

Avangard's Alexei Cherepanov, who had already surpassed Pavel Bure's 18-and-under record of 18 goals in a season and stood tied with Sergei Samsonov's overall rookie goal scoring record of 21 goals, failed to find the net during the semi-final against Metallurg while notching just a single point in the series.

Meanwhile, Metallurg's Nikolai Kulemin (Toronto Maple Leafs) is having an outstanding playoff run so far, with 6 goals in 10 games, after scoring 27 goals during the regular season. Kulemin was one of the goal scorers in Metallurg's three-goal burst in the last eight minutes of a 4-3 come-from-behind win in game three on Sunday, and then he added the game-winning goal in today's deciding game four, scoring the goal that broke a 2-2 tie in Metallurg's eventual 5-2 victory.
